MEET GAIL ARDIEL

A steady voice for our rural and urban community priorities

I’m Gail Ardiel, and I’m running for Deputy Mayor in The Blue Mountains because I care deeply about the people, places, and priorities that make our town such a special place to live. My approach to public service is shaped by decades of municipal experience, multi‑generation agricultural roots, and a commitment to practical, community‑focused decision‑making.

Whether you live in a rural area, a neighbourhood close to town, or one of our vibrant resort communities, I believe every resident deserves a council that listens, understands, and works collaboratively to support our shared future.

I am among the longer-serving political figures in the municipality’s recent history. After a period away from public office, I returned to the town hall following the election in 2022. My profile is shaped by experience in municipal governance, ties to the local agricultural sector, and a focus on community services and rural issues.

I believe in a Blue Mountains where community, agriculture, and responsible growth all work together. As one of the municipality’s longer‑serving elected representatives, I bring decades of experience, deep local roots, and a commitment to practical, community‑focused decision‑making.

My husband Shane and I have four grown children and have operated Apple Springs Orchards since 1984 in Clarksburg. I began my career as a Registered Early Childhood Educator and Resource Teacher and retired in 2018 from owning and operating two childcare centers: Collingwood’s Little People’s started in 1987, and We’re Little People’s Too Day Care started in 2001.

My Story

I come from a long‑standing local family with deep ties to agriculture, including apple production — a cornerstone of our region’s identity. Over the years, I’ve served The Blue Mountains as a Councillor and as Deputy Mayor, gaining firsthand experience with the bylaws, official plan changes, and governance decisions that have shaped our municipality.

After time away from public office, I returned to council in 2022 because I felt strongly about contributing to our community’s future. I continue to bring a steady, informed perspective to the council table, grounded in local history and focused on practical solutions.

From my work in municipal governance to my family’s multi‑generation apple farming heritage, I understand the values and priorities that matter to our residents.
